Slaire Parker Johnson, born June 8, 1933, grew up on the shores of Kahaluʻu, Oʻahu. She was a 1951 graduate of Kamehameha Schools. In 1960, Claire was chosen to be Mrs. Hawaiʻi to represent the State of Hawaiʻi in the Mrs. America competition in Fort Lauderdale, FL.
